John Dow

John was born on December 26th, 1689. John's father was Joseph Dow and his mother was Mary Challis. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Dow and Mary Sanborn; his maternal grandparents were Lt Philip Challis and Mary Sargent. He had three brothers and a sister, named Joseph, James, Philip and Mary. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Eliphaz, Noah, Bildad, Judah, Dow and Dow. He died after 1758.

General Notes
- John appears as buying a Salisbury farm in 1731, but he did not live with his father for years previously. There is a clearly defined family tradition that the children of Joseph Dow, born 1663, by his first wife, all more or less austere Quakers, regarded with horror what seemed to them the wild life of the family by the second wife. No love was lost between them when John came to administer the estate in 1734. John was living in South Hampton, New Hampshire later than 1758.
