Miriam was born in 1766 in ,Orange,North Carolina,USA.  Miriam's father was Gilbert Strayhorn and her mother was Margaret Roan.  Her paternal grandfather was Gilbert Strayhorn and her paternal grandmother is Gilbert; her maternal grandmother is Widow Hunter. She had a sister named Nancy.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died at the age of 64 in May 1830.
