Jacob was born on August 10th, 1814 in Rockingham,VA.  Jacob's father was Abraham Fifer and his mother was Lydia Fry.  His paternal grandmother is <Unknown>. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named John, Adam, Isaac, Abraham, George, Peter, William M., Mary Polly, Elizabeth and Lydia.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 82 on February 27th, 1897 in Jay County,IN.
