Catherine was born in 1543 in Buckenham, Norfolk, , England. Catherine's father was Henry Knyvett and her mother was Anne Pickering. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Knyvett and Muriel Howard; her maternal grandfather was Christopher Pickering and her maternal grandmother is Jane Lewknor.
