Thomas was born in 1878.  Thomas' father was David Thomas and his mother was Ann Williams.  His paternal grandparents were Phillip Thomas and Sarah Davies; his maternal grandparents were David Williams and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Phillip, David, John, Arthur, Sarah, Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Hannah.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 70 on June 24th, 1948.
