Edwin Charles was born on July 14th, 1940.  Edwin Charles' father was Edwin Bernard Scherer and his mother was Dorothy Magdalen Sattler. He has four brothers and two sisters, named Eugene Joseph, Robert Edwin, William Francis, James , Mary Therese and Carol Rose.  He is the fifth oldest of the seven children.
