Zerah was born in 1866.  Zerah's father was John James Larkin and her mother was Nancy Jane Diamond.  Her maternal grandparents were John Diamond and Jane McNeil. She had a brother and a sister, named James and Mary.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had two half-sisters named Minnie and Bernice.
