Alexander was born in 1606 in Kingswear, Brixham, Devonshire, England and his baptism took place on May 2nd, 1605 in St. Omer, Normandy, France.  Alexander's father was Alexander S. SHAPLEIGH and his mother was Mrs. Alexander SHAPLEIGH.  His paternal grandfather is Robert SHAPLEIGH and his paternal grandmother was Marie BLABON; his maternal grandfather was (Unknown) BLOEDEL. He had three brothers and ten sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Nicholas, Nicholas, George, Catherine, Catharine, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Avis, Avis, Judith, Margaret, Grace and Alexander.  He died about 1642.
