John was born about 1494 in Of, Holme-On-Spalding-Moor, Yorkshire, England.  John's father was Thomas MILLINGTON OR TOMLINSON and his mother was Agnes SOTHERON.  His maternal grandfather was William SOTHERON and his maternal grandmother is Mrs. Mary SOTHERON. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William (Or Tomlinson), Robert, Richard, Agnes and Elizabeth.  He died in  1545.
