Thomas was born in 1588 in Upway, Dorsetshire, England.  Thomas' father was John HOYT and his mother was Ruth. He had a brother named Simon.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 63 in 1651 in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut.
