Walter was born about 1105 in Of, Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland and his baptism took place in Also Of, Dol, Normandy France.  Walter's father was Alan FITZFLAALD and his mother is Avelina De HESDING.  His paternal grandparents are Fledaldus Or Flaald Senescal Of DOL and Mrs-Fledaldus Or Flaald DOL; his maternal grandfather is Ernulf De HESDING. He had two brothers and a sister, named William, Jordan and Sibil.  He died in 1177.
