James was born about 1266 in Newton, Makersfield, Lancashire, England.  James' father is Robert BANASTRE and his mother is Alice WOODCOCK.  His paternal grandparents are Robert De BANASTRE and Clemence ORREBY; his maternal grandparents are Gilbert WOODCOCK and Mrs-Gilbert WOODCOCK. He had a sister named Clemence De.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died before 1292.
