James was born about 1800 in Lewisburg, Greenbrier, West Virginia.  James' father was William HARRAH OR O'HARA and his mother was Margaret TINCHER.  His paternal grandparents are Daniel O'HARA and Elizabeth; his maternal grandfather was Samuel TINCHER and his maternal grandmother is Mary DOUGLAS. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Robert, Daniel, William, Samuel, Charles, Mary, Elizabeth (Betsy), Margaret, Sarah (Sally), Hannah and Sally (Sarah).  He died about 1840 in Pawnee, Nebraska.
