Jane was born about 1662 in , , Lancashire, England.  Jane's father is William COTTAM COTTON and her mother is Mrs. William COTTAM.  Her paternal grandfather was James COTTOM and her paternal grandmother is Mrs. James COTTAM. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, James, William, Eliz. and Jenet.  She died after 1723.
