  • Individual Note: PROBATE: Cumberland County,Virginia will bk. ; In the name of God, Amen. I, Rice Bennett, beign in perfect health and in good memory, thanks be to God for it, do make this my last will and testament as followeth. Item, I lend to my wife Sarah Bennett during her widowhood my whole estate personal and real and if she should marry before my son William Bennet comes to age of twenty one years then my executors are to act as followeth: My will is after my wife marys, if she do mary, that my whole estate be equally divided among my three children, viz., Mary Bennett, William and John, only if John be not schold John is to have five pound for pay for his scholing more than his equal part. If Mary Bennett should die before she mary her part of my effects to be equally divided between William and John. If either of them should die before marig the deceased part to return to the surviving heirs. . . . I leave William Hamblton, John Jones and Sarah Bennett my executors. He married Sarah . . . She was born about 1733, of Cumberland County, Virginia. . . She married, 13 Oct 1773, Thomas Linthicum . . his will was proved in Pittsylvania County, Virginia 19 Sep 1796.
