Katri was born in 1826.  Katri's father was Jaan Praks and her mother was Anu Praks.  Her paternal grandparents were Karl Praks and Leenu. She had two brothers and a sister, named Rein, Jaan and Tiiu.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
