Aum's father is John Sheppard and his mother is Donna Paakkonen (Sheppard).  His maternal grandfather was Richard Paakkonen and his maternal grandmother is Nancy Paakkonen.  He has a sister named Gillian.  He has a half-brother and a half-sister, named Robert and Lydia.  John Sheppard adopted Robert.
