Edmunds was born on May 12th, 1935. Edmunds' father was Andrejs Bezmers and his mother was Katrīna Bezmera. His paternal grandparents were Miķelis Bezmers and Ilze Ertmane Bezmera. He had two brothers and a sister, named Ilgvars, Arnolds and Aija. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 7 on August 22nd, 1942 in Grobiņa. The funeral took place in Grobiņas pilsētas Iļģu kapos. He was buried in Grobiņas pilsētas Iļģu kapos.
