Bernardus 's father is Cornelis  Rudolf van den Kommer - (B tak) and his mother is Wilhelmina Hendrica  Claassen.  His paternal grandparents are Cornelis van den Kommer - B and Sieuwtje  van Twuyver.  He is the third of five children.  He has a brother and three sisters, named Cornelis, Cornelia, Wilhelmina and Sieuwetje.
