Ida was born in 1891 in Michigan.  Ida's father was John Miles Banks and her mother was Louisa Guest (Banks). She had two brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, John, Leah, Lillian, Eliza, Alice and Beatrice.  She is the seventh oldest of the eight children.
