Littleberry "Berry" Rutledge

Littleberry was born in 1785. Littleberry's father was Joseph Rutledge and his mother was Mary Paschal (Paschall). His paternal grandfather was James Rutledge and his paternal grandmother is Sarah. He had seven brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Thos, Joseph Jr., Robert, James, Blanks, J., Spencer, Nancy, Polly and Docus. He died at the age of 79 in November 1864.

  One of these, Little Berry Rutledge, we learned went up to Tahlequah District from AL by the fall of 1860, was in Civil War by late 1862. Died in conflict, was buried in Alton, IL Nov 1864. He was in a Cherokee Confederate unit, had been imprisoned in IL.

General Notes
- I am trying to find out where I can look up compiled service records for the soldiers who fought in the Second Mounted Volunteers, Co. A. The name I am looking for is Little Berry RUTLEDGE, he isn't listed on your list, but I found his name in an index. I don't know when he enlisted, but he died in prison in Alton, IL on Nov. 5, 1864. The Atlanta NARA doesn't have any idea. Little Berry moved to the Tahlequah District before 1861. Where can I find out about this area? Thank you for your assistance. Please contact Leslee Dasher
