Syamsul' Alam was born on December 27th, 1986.  Syamsul' Alam's father is Drs Husnur Rafiq and his mother is Drs Suhartini.  His maternal grandparents are Surjadi Pringgohardjo and Tatiek Suwarti. He has two brothers named Syamsuddin Fatah Arsyad and Arif Surya Atmadja.  He is the second oldest of the three children.
