Safarianti was born in 1933.  Safarianti's father is Sumodidjojo and her mother is Ny Sumodidjojo.  Her maternal grandparents are Martodihardjo and Ny Martodihardjo. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Muhamad, Mohamad Rachmad, Siti  and Iswahyuningsih.  She is the third oldest of the five children.
