Endang was born on March 1st, 1945.  Endang's father is Sutomo and her mother is Sulastri.  Her maternal grandfather is Sudarban Sumahandojo and her maternal grandmother was Kadarwati. She has six brothers and two sisters, named Drs Bambang, Bambang Sutjahjono, Bambang Budi, Ir. Edi  Soesetyo, Tyas, Sutjiati, Sulistiati BA and Sri.  She is the second oldest of the nine children.
