Catharina was born on June 25th, 1831.  Catharina's father was Jacob Sander and her mother was Catharina Umlauf.  Her paternal grandparents were Johann Sander and Maria Müller; her maternal grandparents were Johann Jakob Umlauf and Philippine Berlitz. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named Jacob, Johannes, Johann, Johann, Christian, Wilhelm, Peter, Philipp, Elisabeth and Louise.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 71 on January 6th, 1903.
