Richard was born on August 23rd, 1812 in Culpeper, Culpeper, Virginia, United States.  Richard's father was Traverse McKenney and his mother was Elizabeth "Betsy" Pollard.  His maternal grandparents were Edmund POLLARD and Sarah (Sally) Herndon. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Edward, Pollard M, George William, Colin, John, Reuben, Polly Mary, Elizabeth, Susan, Nancy, Drucie and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 82 on December 2nd, 1894 in Harrison, Kentucky, United States.
