Maria was born in 1873.  Maria's father was William Boardman and her mother was Hannah Wrigley.  Her paternal grandparents were William Boardman and Ann. She had five sisters named Sarah, Margaret, Mary, Eleanor and Hannah.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
