James was born in 1805 in Lane Tatham.  James' father was Roger Squires and his mother was Ciciley Willan.  His paternal grandparents were Roger Squires and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and nine sisters, named John, Robert, Roger, Mary, Agnes, Isabella, Isabella, Elizabeth, Anne, Ciciley, Ellen and Jane.
