Nelsa was born on December 3rd, 1923.  Nelsa's father was Oto Albino Finger and her mother was Rosa Palmira Fabrina.  Her paternal grandparents were Henrique Finger and Cristina Mombach. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Adelino, Venâncio, Henrique, Pedro, Norma, Olga and Dorvalina.  She is the fourth oldest of the eight children.
