Jens was born on August 27th, 1868 in Them sogn.1   Jens' father was Mr Erik (Øgaard) Jensen and his mother was Mrs Mette Kirstine Henriksen.  His paternal grandparents were Mr Jens (Ødegaard) Eriksen and Mrs Ane Jensdatter; his maternal grandparents were Mr Henrik Christensen and Mrs Kirstine Sørensdatter. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Kristian, Anton, Henrik, Kirstine, Ane and Karen. He had a half-brother named Karl.  He died at the age of 74 on May 24th, 1943 in Them sogn.1

‌Jens and Marie were married.  They had two daughters named Kirstine and Anna.
