William was born on August 5th, 1776 in Stone, Staffordshire, UK.  William's father is John BOX and his mother is Fanny JOHNSTON.  His paternal grandfather was Thomas BOX and his paternal grandmother is Ann SWINDALL. He had two brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Thomas and Mary.  He is the oldest of the four children.
