Izzy's father was Mendel Muravchik and his mother was Merle (miriam) Gezunterman.  His maternal grandparents are David Gezunterman and Channa Korman. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Reuben, Shlaime Chaim, Phillip, Sam, Joe, Bessie and Esther.
