William was born on August 2nd, 1819.  William's father was Elisha Coleman and his mother was Miss Whitfield (Coleman).  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Coleman  (DAR REFERENCE) and Milly Pittman (Coleman). He had two brothers named Elias and Elisha.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 79 on November 7th, 1898.
