John was born in 1760.  John's father was   William Christian and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were William Christian and <Unknown>. He has five brothers and two sisters, named COL. Robert, Henry, Jones, William, MAJ. Edmund, Jane and Elizabeth.  He is the oldest of the eight children. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, George, Alexander, Wyatt, Frederick, Jacqueline, Patsey and Frances.
