Frank was born in 1893 in Sunk Island, Yorkshire.  Frank's father was Edward Osgerby and his mother was Kate Elizabeth Burkitt. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Charles, Ethel, Annie S and Maud.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.
