Martha was born in 1708 in Dudley.  Martha's father was John Hipkiss and her mother was Jane Pitt.  Her paternal grandparents were ? Hipkiss and Unknown. She had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, John, Edward, Elinor and John.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
