Absalom was born in 1845 in St John's, Newcastle Upon Tyne.  Absalom's father was Jonathan Alderson and his mother was Jane. He had a sister named Hannah.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 38 in 1883 in South Shields, Durham.
