  Mildred Karan, 82, formerly of Export, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in Mulberry Square Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Punxsutawney. Born March 9, 1922, in Export, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Sarah (Lapcevic) Karan, who died in 1957 and 1986, respectively. She was also predeceased by a brother, Mike Karan, who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium, on Dec. 29, 1944, and was interred at the U.S. military cemetery in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Surviving are a brother, George, of Delmont; and cousins, Helen Peterson and family, of Columbus, Ohio, and Mileva Siebert and husband, of Winston-Salem, N.C. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WOLFE-VON GEIS FUNERAL HOME INC., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export, 724-327-1400, where services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Very Rev. D.C. Malich officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export. Pomen service Thursday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
