John, known as John, was born in 1853.  John's father was James JOHNSTON and his mother was Agnes HAIR.  His paternal grandparents were Robert JOHNSTON and Janet GRANGER. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Alexander, James, Thomas, Marion, Margaret and Jennette.  He died1880.
