Randle De Thornton

Randle was born about 1190 in Egerton, Cheshire, England.¹ Randle's father was Randle Le Roter Lord De Thornton. His paternal grandfather was Peter De Thornton. He had a brother and a sister, named Allen Roter and Margery. Randle is no longer alive.¹

  BIOGRAPHY: This Randle de Torhaunt must have been Randle le Roter, Lo rd of Thornton, who became possessed of the Manor of Thornton and is stat ed by Collins to have been a son of David le Clerk, Secretary to Randle Bl undeville, Earl of Chester. Randle assumed the name of le Roter, and al so of Thornton from his place of residence, and is sometimes designat ed by both. Randle Thornton died before the 28th of Henry III, having marr ied Amicia, daughter of Richard Kingsley and his wife Joan, daughter and c o-heiress of Alexander Sylvester, Lord of Stourton and Forester of Wirral.
