Owain Ap Gruffydd Lord was born in 1257 in Montgomeryshire, Wales.¹ Owain Ap Gruffydd Lord's father was Gruffydd De La Pole Ap Gwenwynwyn and his mother was Hawise Le Strange. His paternal grandparents were Gwenwynwyn Ap Owain and Margred Verch Rhys; his maternal grandparents were John Le Strange and Lucy De Tregoz.
