Fanny was born on March 28th, 1824.  Fanny's father was Ulrich Vincent Albert VERDAN and her mother was Henriette Sophie CORNAZ.  Her paternal grandparents were Louis VERDAN and Suzanne Rose BURKI; her maternal grandparents were Jean Daniel CORNAZ and Louise Marguerite GAILLARD. She had three brothers named Gustave, Edouard and Eugène.  She was the youngest of the four children.
