Octavia was born on March 17th, 1889 in Union, Mississippi, USA. Octavia's father was Joseph Ellison Maxey and her mother was Mary Ella Gammel. Her maternal grandparents were John Gammel and Eliza Garrett. She had three brothers and a sister, named Marion John, William Aaron, Joseph and Marie A. She was the oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 74 on May 7th, 1963.-
