His paternal grandparents were Jacob Hunsucker and Sarah Elizabeth Killian. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Edwin Alonzo "Bud", Marcellus Lycurgus "Les M", San Juan "Chet", John P, Malinda J, Lillie, Sarah Katherine "Sallie Kate" and Alice. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 3 on May 27th, 1862 in Murphy, Cherokee, North Carolina, USA.-
