David's father is Lester Hailey and his mother is Helen Breedlove. His paternal grandparents are William C Hailey and Annie L Gray; his maternal grandfather was J D Breedlove and his maternal grandmother is Margaret Nadine Hunsucker. He has two brothers and a sister, named Ricky, Terry and Debra. He has a half-brother named Randy Armabula.-
