Josephine was born in March 1888 in Early Grove, Marshall, Mississippi, USA. Josephine's father was James H "Jim" Allen and her mother was Margaret Jane Skelton. Her paternal grandfather is Samuel Allen and her paternal grandmother was Jane Dyer; her maternal grandparents were William Skelton and Sarah Jane Watkins. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William Lee "Bud", James Prince, Alvie, Albert, Claude Davis, Mary Jane "Molly" and Beulah M. She was the second oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 75 in 1963 in Marshall, Mississippi, USA.-
