Gertrude (Gusta) Augusta Cook (Titus)

Young Gusta Cook

Gertrude, known as Gusta, was born on August 24th, 1875 in Jamesville, NY. Gusta's father was Ele (Ely?) m/n/unk Cook and her mother was Althea Louise Hungerford (Cook). She had five brothers and five sisters, named Roy, James, Stephen, Frederick, Randolph, Jessie May, Louise, Frances, Catherine and Ruth. She was the second oldest of the eleven children. She died from a stroke at the age of 83 on May 11th, 1959 in Syracuse, NY.

General Notes
- Bert always called her Gusta so that is the name I chose for this site. Her children made a joke of it and referred to her "Gusty" but never to her face. I doubt that anyone, except perhaps her mother, called her Gertrude.

Occupation Details
- Gusta's occupation was farmer.
  - Occupation Notes
    - She traveled with Bert for a few years but gave up that life and bought a dairy farm in Jamesville which she worked with the help of her older son Al until Bert retired from millwrighting. Although Bert did the paper work, she was the farmer of the couple and was a well known character at cattle auctions.
