John's father was Mr Majella (Tom) Curley and his mother is Breda O'Brien. His paternal grandparents were James Curley and Annie Reilly. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Jim, Gerard, Thomas, Margaret, Sheila, Rose-Marie, Eileen and Tina.-
