. John Procter was born in 1847 in Otley, Yorkshire, England.1   . John Procter's father was Francis Petty and his mother was Mary Carr.  He had three brothers and four sisters, named William H, Thomas Richard C, Albert H, Mary J, Ann E, Henrietta and Julia.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
