John Petty

John was born in 1775 in West End, Thruscross, Fewston, Yorkshire, England. John's father was Christopher Pettyt and his mother was Sarah Pickersgill. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Pettyt and Sarah Hodgson; his maternal grandfather is Thomas Pickersgill and his maternal grandmother was Jane Benson. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Jane and Pegg. He was the third oldest of the four children.
